A couple of days ago Motorola introduced the long-awaited Atrix 2, and now we already have a chance to look at it and find out more about its specs and features.

The Motorola Atrix 2 has a lot in common with its predecessor – the Motorola Atrix (read our review to learn more about it), but comes with a number of improvements as well. First of all, the design is improved a bit – it’s now kind of sleeker, seems to be more stylish and modern, and the back side is now textured and feels much better in your hands. The display is larger now – 4.3 inch with the same 960×540 resolution, but though the pixel density is lower, the screen seems to be brighter and more colorful anyway.

The smartphone has the same 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor inside, with ULP GeForce GPU and Tegra 2 AP20H chipset. The camera is 8MP now instead of the old 5MP, armed with auto-focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging and image stabilization; it now shoots better videos, too – 1080p HD against 720p at 30fps.

There is also another not that important improvement – in the Atrix 2 you can customize the apps located at the bottom of the screen. By the way, Motorola says the Motorola Atrix 2 will be compatible with the Lapdock 100 we introduced yesterday.

And here is a nice hands-on video demonstrating the new Motorola Atrix 2:

The Motorola Atrix 2 will first come to AT&T in the U.S. – the mobile operator will start selling it on October 16 for $99 with a two-year contract. Most likely soon after the phone will go to other operators in the U.S. as well and then start traveling to Europe and to the UK.

Hey, Motorola Atrix 2, we’re waiting for you here in the UK, so hurry up!
